Audra Mcdonald stands out in the range of her talents and her versatility as an actor and singer. Audra McDonald, who won six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was named as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people. The president Barack Obama also awarded her the National Medal of Arts -the nation's most prestigious award to recognize achievements in the field. McDonald was brought up within Fresno California by her musical parents. She studied classical music at the Juilliard School, New York. In 1999, she co-starred with Kathy Bates in ABC's acclaimed remake of Annie. In addition, she played an occasional role in NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit in 2000. McDonald, who was awarded the Emmy Award nomination back in 1999, for her role on the HBO version of Pulitzer Prize-winning play Wit directed and starring Emma Thompson, returned on the network's air in 2003 with the drama about politics Mister Sterling. The film was produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. Then, in the beginning of 2006, she joined the cast of the show on WB called The Bedford Diaries and over the course of the season, she was an recurring role in NBC's television series Kidnapped. In the year 2016, McDonald was nominated for the fourth Emmy award for her appearance in HBO's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, a film-special. The Bite was a six episode drama about pandemics produced in collaboration with Spectrum Originals in collaboration with CBS Studios. McDonald appeared as U.S. prosecutor Liz Lawrence, a character she first appeared in the CBS drama The Good Wife legal drama in 2009. The role was reprised in the year 2018, playing season the regular Liz Reddick in Paramount+'s The Good Fight. In recognition of her performance, McDonald received three Critics Choice Award nominees. McDonald guest-stars in Julian Fellowes historical drama The Gilded Age.
