The film was awarded several distinctions, among them being awarded the European Film Award Best Actress by The London Film Critics. In 2007, she was in on the Romanian movie 4 luni 3 saptamani si2 (4 Months, 3 Weeks 4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 days) which was directed composed by Cristian Mungiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days). The film won two prizes at the Cannes Film Festival (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System & the FIPRESCI Prize). Also, she appeared as an infant in Francis Ford Coppola's Youth Without Youth. In 2008 she played Yasim anwar in the BBC Mini-Series The Last Enemy. Marinca was a part of Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven as well the Romanian drama Boogie. She played Irma on Fury 2014, in which she portrayed a German named aunt to Emma.
